The Blackberry Torch 9800 is the slimmer of the two phones with a depth of 14.6mm. The Pre 3 is wider, measuring 64.0mm to the Blackberry Torch 9800′s 62.0mm. The Blackberry Torch 9800 weighs 161g, whereas the Pre 3 is 5 lighter and weighs 156g.

Best Camera/Video: Pre 3 (2-2)
HP has built a 5.0 Megapixel lens into the Pre 3 together with features such as autofocus, an LED flash, geo-tagging and HD video recording at 720p. For video calls, there’s also a front-facing camera. The RIM Blackberry Torch 9800 matches its opponent with a 5.0 Megapixel camera of its own, as well as auto-focus, image stabilization, LED flash and a 2x digital zoom. No HD recording though and no secondary camera.

Best Display: Pre 3 (3-2)
Display size is key and the Pre 3 features a 3.58-inch (480 x 800) touch-sensitive LCD screen. Measuring just 3.2 inches, the Blackberry Torch 9800′s touch-sensitive LCD screen is smaller. Its 360 x 480 pixel resolution is also no match for the display on the Pre.

Best Processor: Pre 3 (4-2)
The Pre’s 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset, consisting of a 1.4GHz Scorpion processor and Adreno 205 GPU inside is a better option than the chugging Marvell chip inside the Blackberry Torch.

HP’s phone offers less storage space.

The Pre 3 also includes GPS/A-GPS, a digital compass, HP mobile hotspot, HP Touchstone wireless charging and support for Adobe Flash 10.1. In comparison, the Blackberry Torch 9800 features GPS/A-GPS, geo-tagging and Blackberry Maps.
