by Jerry D on July 5, 2010

The HTC Incredible (aka Droid Incredible) is a powerful smartphone that’s already beaten the HTC Desire and given the Apple iPhone 4 a close fight. Dell’s heavyweight handset is next into the ring, boasting a 5.0-inch screen that gives it real tablet PC aspirations…

Let’s get started… The spec sheet of the Droid Incredible lists CDMA2000 1xRTT/1xEVDO/1xEVDO rev. A, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP as the core connectivity options. Dell’s mighty Streak, meanwhile, dishes up 3G/HSDPA (7.2 Mbps), 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. (0-0)

Size & Weight:

Put the two phones side-by-side and the Droid Incredible is a neat 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9mm handset. While Dell’s phone is significantly bigger, measuring 152.9 x 79.1 x 9.98mm. The Droid Incredible is obviously the smaller phone – it doesn’t have to accommodate a 5.0-inch touchscreen. Weigh the two phones and the Droid Incredible weighs 130g, while the Dell Streak is 220g. (1-0)

Striking the first blow, the Droid Incredible’s 8.0 MP camera features autofocus, dual LED flash, geo-tagging and video capture. The Streak’s 5.0 Megapixel camera (with autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, plus VGA video capture) is no match for the Droid Incredible’s. A second camera on the front of the HTC handset can be used for video calling. (1-1)

The Droid Incredible features a touch-sensitive AMOLED display, 3.7 inches across with a quoted resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. In comparison, the Streak’s touch-sensitive LCD screen is 5.0 inches wide. The screen resolution matches that of its rival. (1-2)

As for performance, The Droid Incredible’s chip is a 1GHz Snapdragon (QSD8650), while the Streak uses a Snapdragon (QSD8250) processor, which also ticks along at 1GHz. Android 2.1 (Eclair) with HTC Sense UI comes installed on the Droid Incredible; while the Streak uses Android 1.6 with an enhanced Dell UI. (2-2)

The Streak boasts 16GB compared to the default 8GB capacity of the Droid Incredible. Plug a bigger memory card into the Droid Incredible’s microSD expansion slot and the maximum capacity rises to 40GB. A microSD slot on the Streak further boosts the overall memory on Dell’s phone to 32GB. (2-2)

The Droid Incredible also includes GPS/A-GPS, an FM radio tuner and a digital compass. The Streak features GPS/A-GPS and a digital compass. (3-2)

The HTC Droid Incredible wins!

droid incredible HTC Droid Incredible vs. Dell Streak ReviewThe Droid Incredible emerges as the winner of this fight (3-2). It’s matched quite closely by the big Dell Streak. But ultimately, the Incredible wins out with the highest-spec camera and the fact that you don’t look like an idiot when you hold it up to your ear…
