Motorola DROID X2 vs. Motorola Droid X – Review

If you had to bet, you’d probably wager that the Motorola Droid X2 was better than the original Droid X. Mostly because of the ’2′.

But it’s not always that simple. The Samsung Wave II was actually worse than the original handset – you can find the fight here. Let’s see just how much of an advantage the Droid X2 has over its older brother…

Stat-fight: Motorola DROID X2 vs. Motorola Droid X

These two phones look identical. But in terms of screen technology there’s a big difference if you look close enough. The Motorola DROID X2 has been upgraded with a 4.3-inch qHD (540 x 960) touch-sensitive LCD display. There are 518400 pixels overall, which translates to a resolution of 256.047 pixels per inch.

The original Motorola Droid X’s LCD screen matches the newer model for size. But in this battle, it suffers from a lower screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. With 409920 pixels on its 4.3-inch screen, the pixel density is lower, rated at 227.907 pixels per inch.

The other big difference is speed. Assessing the two CPUs, we find that inside the DROID X2 there’s a cutting edge, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip, that whooshes along at 1GHz. The Droid X boasts a single-core 1GHz OMAP processor. Well, it was fast last year…
