Nokia C6 vs. Nokia X6 vs. Nokia N97 Mini

by Jerry D on August 4, 2010

The Nokia C6 is the newest handset from the beleaguered phone giant, aimed squarely at the mid-range market. Powered by the Symbian OS (Series 60), it headlines with a 3.2-inch LCD that has a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels.

The 5.0 MP camera isn’t bad either, aided by an LED flash and supporting VGA video capture. Nokia quotes 5.0 hours of talktime for the C6, which isn’t great. Nor is the weight, which tips the scales at a pocket-bulging 150g. Max storage tops out at 16GB. So-so.

The Nokia X6, meanwhile, is often overlooked as a decent cellphone, but it comes equipped with a good set of specifications. Like the rest of Nokia’s line-up it runs the Symbian OS. But the star of the show is undoubtedly the 5.0 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and a dual LED flash.

This skinny phone weighs only 122g and boasts a 3.2-inch (360 x 640) touchscreen. It packs 32GB of internal memory. Nokia reckons you can get 8.5 hours of talktime from a single charge.

Which leaves the Nokia N97 Mini, a cut-down version of the burly N97 handset that offers cut-down functionality as a result. Powered by Symbian, it features a decent 3.2-inch LCD (360 x 640 pixels) and a 5.0 MP camera with the same frills as the X6.

While fairly thin (14.2mm), it’s a little bulky at 138g and the 434MHz processor doesn’t really give it enough grunt. The onboard memory can be extended to 24GB (not 32GB) and talktime is rated at a ho-hum 6.0 hours.

The Nokia X6 wins!
