Stat-fight: Nokia N9 vs. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Nokia has built the N9 with a 3.9-inch touch-sensitive display. This AMOLED screen has a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, which isn’t going to draw any admiring glances. Nevertheless, this 3.9-incher has an overall pixel count of 409920, giving the N9 a pixels per inch (PPI) rating of 251.282. Actually, that’s not too shabby.
The Xperia Arc’s touch-sensitive LED-backlit ‘Reality Display’ is basically a LCD panel. But the screen is bigger at 4.2 inches. Like the N9, its has a ho-hum 480 by 854 resolution that’s looking poor when compared to the newest qHD displays. With 409920 pixels onscreen, the pixel density is 233.333 pixels per inch.
The other key battle here is between Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and Nokia’s MeeGo OS. Expect the result to be as clear-cut as a steamroller versus a bowl of lime-flavoured jello…
