The Galaxy S is well-specced and includes 3G/HSDPA (7.2Mbps), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP connectivity. HTC has crammed its handset with CDMA2000 1xRTT/1xEVDO/1xEVDO rev. A, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. (1-0)

Size & Weight:

How big are these phones? Well, the Galaxy S is the wider of the two, measuring 64.2mm to the Droid Incredible’s 58.5mm. The Galaxy S is also the taller handset, measuring 122.4mm to the Droid Incredible’s 117.5mm. As for weight, the Samsung Galaxy S weighs 119g, while the Droid Incredible is 130g. (2-0)

Camera:

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy S with a 5.0 Megapixel camera that boasts autofocus, geo-tagging, touch to focus functionality, face and smile detection and HD video recording. For video calls, there’s also a front-facing camera. The Droid Incredible trumps its rival with an improved 8.0 Megapixel lens plus autofocus, a dual LED flash and geo-tagging. But it lacks HD video capture and there’s no second camera for video calls. (3-0)

Screen/keyboard:

As for screen size, the Samsung Galaxy S features a 4.0-inch (480 x 800) touch-sensitive Super AMOLED display. The touch-sensitive AMOLED screen on the Droid Incredible is smaller, measuring 3.7 inches. The screen resolution matches that of the Galaxy S. (3-0)

Performance:

In terms of processor speed, the heart of the Droid Incredible is a 1GHz Snapdragon (QSD8650) processor. The Galaxy S has a ARM Cortex A8 chip, also rated at 1GHz. Both phones use Android 2.1. HTC’s phone also features the company’s Sense UI. (3-0)

Storage:

The 16GB of standard storage in the Galaxy S trumps the 8GB capacity of the Droid Incredible. The Galaxy S also boasts a microSD slot to increase the maximum capacity to an eye-widening 48GB. You can also expand the memory of the Droid Incredible via the microSD slot. The maximum is slightly lower at 40GB. (4-0)

Battery life:

With a full battery, Samsung boasts 6.5 hours of talktime for its Galaxy S, versus 5.2 hours for the Droid Incredible. The standby times are 576 hours for the Galaxy S and 146 hours for the Droid Incredible. A win for the Galaxy S. (5-0)

Extras:

The Galaxy S also includes a stereo FM radio with RDS, GPS/A-GPS and a digital compass. The Droid Incredible features GPS/A-GPS, a built-in FM radio tuner and a digital compass. (5-0)

The fight was won in four key areas – the Galaxy has the most memory out of the box and it boasts a bigger AMOLED screen. It’s also the thinnest and lightest of the two phones. And did we mention battery life? That’s a KO right there…
