Analysis: Samsung Wave II vs. Sony Ericsson Xperia X8
The Wave II boasts a touch-sensitive Super Clear LCD display, measuring 3.7 inches and delivering a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. In terms of pixel density, the pixels per inch (PPI) measurement is 252.162.
The Xperia X8′s touch-sensitive LCD display is less roomy, measuring 3.0 inches across. It boasts a poorer screen resolution too – 320 by 480 pixels. With only 153600 pixels onscreen, the pixel density is a lowly 192.333 pixels per inch.
One of the big differences between the two is speed. The Wave II’s engine is a modern 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor (Hummingbird), ably assisted by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The Xperia X8 chugs along with a 600MHz processor.
As for size, the Wave II is 123.9 x 59.8 x 11.8mm, the ho-hum Xperia X8 is 99.0 x 54.0 x 15.0mm. The Xperia X8 is the more compact handset. While the Wave II carries more weight than its rival. Compare the two and Samsung’s phone is 135g and Xperia X8′s’ handset is 104g.
